ABOUT

NU-RISE is an University of Aveiro start-up, founded by Luís Moutinho (CEO), João Veloso and Filipe Castro. Following the award of the 5th-edition of the Building Global Innovators (BGI) accelerator program in the Medical Technologies & Health IT track, NU-RISE obtained seed investment of 100 k€ by Caixa Capital.
NU-RISE develops nuclear radiation sensors and equipment for industry, research instrumentation and medical applications. NU-RISE initiated in-vitro trials of a new device for in-vivo and real-time dosimetry, solving the lack for radiation monitoring in prostate brachytherapy. The company aims the commercialisation of the device in the first quarter 2018.

Building Global Innovators (BGI) was considered one of the best accelerators in the world, according to the latest report by Hot Topic (dedicated to delivering relevant and high quality insights to tech leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs). BGI is an international initiative of entrepreneurship and innovation, promoted by ISCTE - Lisbon University Institute developed under the MIT Portugal Program in partnership with MIT, the Deshpande Center for Innovation and the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship.

BGI is a vertically focused accelerator, working on 4 market-application verticals: Medical Devices & Health IT, Smart Cities & Industrial Technologies, Enterprise IT & Smart Data and Ocean Economy. For more information please visit their website.

Novo Banco - Concurso Nacional de Inovação

Novo Banco National Innovation Contest has as main goal to reward excellence in research, contribute to a more competitive economy, and to promote and stimulate an entrepreneurial culture for innovation. This project is the most visible face of the Bank's initiatives in supporting business innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative is aimed at small and micro enterprises, researchers and independent inventors and differs from other initiatives in Portugal for its wide range of partnerships, a total of 21, between educational institutions, companies and

technology centers, associations, foundations and other entities , giving it a high representation in the Portuguese scientific community as well as the existence of sectoral categories, thus implying a concrete application to a specific business sector.
